No prior officiating experience is usually required. We welcome beginners and provide training and mentorship.

Yes! Many referees officiate around their work or school schedules. Basketball has a defined season, so officiating opportunities are concentrated during those months.

Flexibility is one of the benefits. Most games are held in the evenings or on weekends, which allows officials to work around other jobs or commitments.

Costs can vary but normally include membership to the association. Membership dues are ANNUAL with the following rates breakdown:

• Full Membership -$155

• Affiliate - $100

• Associate - $60

Other areas that will incur costs are the uniform, but there are package bundles, as well as a la carte items available depending on your needs. Additional training via CAMPS may incur costs, but those will vary depending on location and level of instruction.

Full Membership is for someone who:

• Has declared the association as their primary association

• Actively officiates games assigned within that association

• Meets all training, meeting, and dues requirements

• May have voting rights, eligibility for leadership roles, and access to full benefits (e.g., mentorship, evaluations, priority/ high profile assignments)

• Is eligible for advancement to higher level games / leadership

• Is eligible for post season

Affiliate Membership is typically for someone who:

• Has declared another association as their primary association

• May attend meetings or participate in training but does not receive regular game assignments

• May have limited voting rights or none at all

• Is usually eligible for post season

• Is NOT eligible for leadership roles or evaluations

Associate Membership is for someone who:

• Looking to stay connected, gain extra training, or work occasional games outside their primary association

• Has a desire to pay only the minimum EBBOA membership fees due ($60.00)

• May have “Adjunct” status - ONLY assigned games on days that EBBOA has a shortage of available Active members

• Is NOT eligible for the post season
